Capture Point

Project

Amid a rapidly escalating misinformation campaign, Qorvis partnered with CapturePoint Solutions to reset the narrative and earn community trust for its carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in Central Louisiana. Our mandate: counter a well-organized opposition movement that had taken root and was fueling public skepticism across the region.

The initiative began with regional polling and stakeholder mapping to identify key influencers as well as opposition voices. Qorvis conducted targeted outreach by holding meetings with local officials and law enforcement, auditing and refining digital materials, and developing a “Fact vs. Fiction” campaign to dispel misinformation. This effort was supported by a digital advertising campaign and grassroots community engagements featuring CapturePoint executives, all designed to shift public perceptions of CCS toward support. Additionally, we created the “American Energy Security Project,” a coalition that provided third-party advocacy for the carbon industry in Louisiana.

Solutions

The campaign resulted in strengthened relationships with local and national stakeholders, increased digital engagement, and measurably improved sentiment across the CENLA region. We successfully shifted local attitudes through a strong on-the-ground and digital presence, combined with philanthropic efforts that helped integrate CapturePoint into community development. This progress was reflected in the local Police Jury’s decision to rescind its official opposition to CapturePoint’s carbon sequestration project. Through coordinated state and local lobbying efforts—both public and behind the scenes—we also helped defeat all proposed legislation aimed at halting new carbon sequestration projects during the state legislative session.
