Project
When the offshore drilling industry experienced a crisis following the Deepwater Horizon explosion, companies that had been safely drilling in less than 500 feet of water for decades found themselves unfairly grouped in with BP and other deepwater drillers.
Solution
The newly formed trade association, the Shallow Water Energy Security Coalition, turned to Qorvis Communications to augment its public affairs strategy. Qorvis provided valuable governmental relations counsel, preparing SWESC representatives for Hill meetings, Congressional hearings and meetings with Administration officials. This strategy succeeded in differentiating shallow water drillers from deepwater drillers in the Gulf of Mexico, and positioned the coalition as a leader in the industry to work on a reasonable regulatory policy that would protect American jobs and energy independence.
