As Cambodia expanded its diplomatic, economic, and cultural engagement with the United States, its leadership wanted to ensure that the country’s story was being told accurately and directly to American audiences.
Cambodian officials wanted to highlight the country’s economic transformation, growing regional role in Southeast Asia, and leadership on issues such as landmine clearance and cultural preservation. At the same time, the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Washington faced a challenge common to many emerging economies: ensuring that its perspectives were clearly represented in U.S. media coverage and policy discussions.

Qorvis partnered with the Royal Embassy of Cambodia to implement a comprehensive communications and engagement strategy spanning media relations, digital outreach, policy engagement, and events.
We secured national and international media coverage for Cambodian officials and initiatives across major outlets including Reuters, CNN, Bloomberg, Newsweek, The New York Times, and POLITICO, ensuring that Cambodia’s development story and diplomatic priorities were represented in influential media.
A major focus was on supporting Cambodia’s efforts to recover and repatriate looted cultural artifacts. Qorvis coordinated media outreach for high-profile repatriation events involving the U.S. Department of Justice and Homeland Security Investigations, generating coverage in outlets including Reuters, the Associated Press, The New York Times, and other national media outlets.
We also organized and supported diplomatic and policy initiatives in Washington, including events on Capitol Hill highlighting Cambodia’s global leadership in landmine clearance and regional development.
To expand Cambodia’s direct communications with international audiences, Qorvis implemented a digital strategy promoting Cambodia’s economic growth, tourism, and diplomatic initiatives. Paid and organic campaigns significantly increased the reach and engagement of Cambodia’s digital platforms.
By the end of the campaign, Cambodia significantly strengthened its visibility and diplomatic engagement in the United States. Through sustained media outreach, events, and digital engagement, the campaign helped position Cambodia as an emerging economic and diplomatic partner while strengthening relationships between Cambodian leaders and American policymakers, journalists, and opinion leaders.
